Solved Why internet slow with router?

June 24, 2015 at 11:51:58
Specs: Windows 8.1, i7 2600k/ 8gb
My PC when it is connected to the modem receives 60 mbps. I have a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router also connected to the modem and any device connected through wireless to the router also receives 60 mbps. However when connecting my PC to the router with ethernet, I receive only 12mbps. Why?

I need my PC connected through the router due to a new network printer I have being impossible to find unless connected through the router.

What settings do I need to configure on either modem, router, or PC to gain that speed back?

Probably too simple but remove power from the router for about half a minute then see if it is any better when it comes back up again.

Well thanks for responding everyone but sometimes technology just needs a reset. "did you try unplugging, and plugging it back in?" technique works. *facepalm.

That pretty well fits in with the ideas/comments in the second link I posted.

If you mean it's OK now then glad to hear it. Maybe #1 wasn't too simple after all.
Thanks for letting us know.
