Solved Why does Z3200PS Shut Down and Show Error Code 62:04?

Specs: Windows 7, i3 / 4GB Ram
Brand new DesignJet Z3200PS HP Printer shuts down with 42:04 error when connected to my Arris wired cable modem through a 24 port switch. All my other HP printers, DesignJet T730, CLJ 500 Series, CLJ 4700 series, LJ 4250 Series --> 10+ printers, are fine along with 3 desktops, DVRs, TVs, etc. Tested several fixed IP addresses as well and different cables without change - problem persisted. So the tech asked if I had a Router - which I did from server networking days. Connected the router in between my Arris Cable Modem and network to the 24 port switch, changed modem LAN side from 192.168.1.XXX to 192.168.0.XXX and network LAN from Router outbound to network printers and everything 192.168.1.XXX - i.e. Router goes out LAN side to network.. Printer boots right up and works great! What? Problem solved? No! Tried two formatter boards as well with Cable Modem connected to switch to network and printer shut down. Why does it work now with the router in between switch and cable modem? Is this an I/O issue? The IP addresses did not change for any networked equipment - it's just now the Z3200 works!

Unfortunately, there is no 62:04 error code at that link. Even if there was, why does the printer work when the router is stuck in between the Arris cable modem and switch?

62:04, 63:04, 64:04 and 65:04 error code
Description
I/O module error (62 = parallel; 63 = Network; 64 = USB).
Recommended action

Unplug the power cable from the printer and wait a few seconds. Plug in the power cable again and check to see if the error code has disappeared.
If the error code reappears, upgrade the firmware.

Upgrading the firmware

If the System Maintenance tool is not already loaded, load from the CD shipped with the printer, or download the HP Designjet System Maintenance Tool from the Web.
Click here to download the newest available firmware via the system maintenance tool at http://www.designjet.hp.com/downloa...
Under system maintenance, select the appropriate printer model.
If registration appears, register now or select skip registration.
Choose your printer's current firmware, then select the appropriate operating system (OS).
Install the tool.
Open the System Maintenance tool and select Upgrade firmware.

Information regarding recent vulnerabilities

HP is aware of the recent class of vulnerabilities referred to as “speculative execution side-channel attacks”. HP has released a security bulletin for systems with Intel x86 processor, and will continue to provide more information on other processors (ARM, AMD) as it becomes available.

How many devices are connected to the network? More than 64?
Doe you see the MAC address of the printer in the Cable Modem Status > Addresses > CPE list ??

I am going to have a new modem installed on Monday - will get back then with everyone. To answer your questions - knowing that everything works correctly right now including the Z3200PS - approximately 19 devices. The MAC / IP addresses did all show up when I was directly connected to the Arris cable modem router - with my 24 port switch. Now that I have the 10 year old wired router in place after the Arris cable modem router (and before the 24 port switch), only those items connected to the 4 port switch built in to the wired router show in the client list - which presently is just two computers. However, everything is addressable - even though not showing on the client list of the wired router. BTW: the wired router does have the latest firmware installed - just old. More Monday night - I hope!

First, the new same model cable modem router was installed with the same result - the printer basically shuts down and shows error 62:04. The issue is one of "communication" between the Z3200PS formatter board and the Arris cable modem router. By installing the additional wired router after the Arris cable modem router I changed the information that is required / asked for by the Arris cable modem router. So the solution is still pending, but I did learn that I am being charged $13 per month in rental fees for the present Arris cable modem router. I bought a DOCS 3.0 cable modem and a separate router on Amazon (the current router is over 5 years old) - will see what it looks like on Thursday and get back - if it works the Arris goes back to Windstream and I save money after 6 months. Right now everything works correctly - as long as I do not remove the extra router. Solution? The Z3200PS is "picky" about Arris cable modem routers.
