i contacted motorola networking dept & they walked me through the setup to put my router/gateway in dmz gaming mode for the ip adress of my ps3 .. all the ports were open like they should but, after a few min they get shut down by timewarner internet service...!!!
please help i called timewarner 7 they give me b.s. saying they do not support gaming mode on the router they set me up with.. and to contact the router company.. but it all gets traced back to t.w. internet & yet they deny closing the gaming port that i had motorola configure...

im trying to set dmz up for black ops on my ps3. i have a motorola gateway sbg900 but i cant seem to get it working. do you remember how they told you to do it?

Are you sure they took your router out of bridge mode or did they simply change the IP on you. Most ISPs have Dynamic IPs which switch every once in a while so that you can't host sites or games. You can either purchase a Static IP from them or use a third party to give you a virtual static IP like...


P.S. If you simply want ports open not because you are going to host a game server just join one then you might want to look into port forwarding.
