If your old computer and router did exactly the same then the issue is either down to your server or your phone line.

I would start by contacting your server as they are usually very familiar with this kind of thing. Depending on your situation they might co-ordinate this with your phone line provider.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

Indeed, sounds like a physical problem. At my own home, when the ground is wet, I lose my connection for a bit, it requires the line to my home be replaced which up to now I have been too unaffected to worry about it. Your internet service provider is a good place to start, they can usually test the "sync" and see if you have a strong signal or they may send someone out. How are you connecting through; a cable line, a telephone line or other? Is the line on splitter? If you connect via phone line, are their filters on other phone lines (excluding their modem/router which never has a filter on the line)? How it works in my neighbourhood is this; if it's their fault, they pay the cost of the service person(if one is needed), if it turns out to be the 5 phone splitters someone put in themselves.....you pay for the service call, but your Internet provider is the place to start.

To err is human but to really screw things up, you need a computer!
