It will either be built onto the motherboard, or it will be a very small add-on card. To find out exactly which it is, you need to talk to someone who works on that model or read the service manual (different from the users manual)

My experiece is they're usually add-on cards you get at through the bottom of the laptop. There will be a small door, maybe 3"x2" that you can remove to expose the unit.

If you can get your hands on the Service Manual for the device, it will show you exactly where it is and how to replace it.

Thank you very much for your help. I did open the cover but found no wifi card installed and didn't find wifi card slot either. Sorry I didn't give my full details of my laptop. It's a Toshiba, Satellite A60 not Gateway.

I see the system panel indicator with Wifi and wifi switch button (Hollow). It's not working for me and I reckon, this laptop is not built in wifi card even though there are wifi things we can see. but an USB wifi adaptor is working perfectly.

I want to install wifi card inside somewhere but I don't know where. I browsed the manufracture website to download the Service Manual on PDF format but it isn't working and went through detailed Specification on an image but it doesn't show where the wifi card is. It shows where the memory and battery are.

It could be built onto motherboard as you mentioned. I am not taking any pain to get hold of someone who knows everything about this model.

Thank you though,

Cheers,

I just did a quick search of "Toshiba Satellite A60 manual and found the following link to a user manual which you're going to click on to open the manual

http://209.167.114.38/support/Downl...

Once it's open and full downloaded (may take a minute so be patient) you'll want to search the following string "Figure 2-5" using the "Find" (search) function inside the .pdf file. That will take you to a view of the underside of your laptop. Scroll down and have a look and you'll see where the access to the WLAN is located. Open it up. If you have no WLAN module in there, then you don't have a wireless interface.

You should be able to search the document for a picture of the WLAN module and with luck it might show you a picture of it so you'll know what it looks like. All I can tell you is, it's a small card that plugs into a slot and usually has a wire attached to it that plugs into a socket in the same area.

I am the captain of my soul.
