Westell A90-750015 - cable length

Westell / A90-7500 dsl modem/router

Specs: N/A
We are using Westell A90-750015 DSL modem/routers to link our wifi net to the internet. We are using Meraki access points as gateways and repeaters. Our problem is that we can not use more than 50 feet of UTP cable to link the modems to the Meraki gateways! We have purchased top-quality Belden cable and are using quality connectors - no avail. Everything is wired IAW IEEE standards.

Meraki tech sez it's the cable or the connectors. We're tried reconnectorizing - no change.

TIA,
Mark

Did you test/certify the cables?

Technically speaking in this situation, the maximum segment length for a Cat5/5e/6 cable should apply and that is 100 metres.

Yes, we tested the cables with a tester to make sure the connectors were properly wired. They were. The cable - Belden - came straight from the box and we made sure that it didn't get twisted or kinked. I checked it for discoloration of the sheathing - it turns from blue to white when it's been kinked. All looked fine.

Thanks for your response!

Well, if you've tested the cable thoroughly then the issue has to be a hardware issue with either the Access Point or the router.

I researched the Westell modem/routers. There don't seem to be any cable lenght issues on the net. I think we'll reconnectorize the last cable we ran to see if we can solve this problem. I may end up calling Verizon to get some tech help on this.

Thanks for your help.
