Specs: Windows vista home premium, P4/4 gb
Hey all, i set up a network, 1 comp running vista 64 bit, other xp sp3. They are sharing internet connection, but i cant see the shared folder on vista machine, i shared my documents on the xp, but not showing up on vista.
I already made sure they have the same workgroup name, simple file sharing is enabled on vista machine. turned off windows firewall on both, both use avg antivirus.
What else can i try, i have done this once before and it worked, not sure what im missing.
thanks.

Ping the other computer's IP address to make sure it is not a layer one issue, then ping the computer's name to make sure it is not a three issue.

Try using UNC pathing by doing (Windows Key)+R to bring up Run and typing \\computerb\shredfolder to see if you get access that way.

Check the Local Area Connection in your Network Connections...

XP : Control Panel -> Network Connections -> Right Click -> Properties.

Vista : Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Manage Network Connections -> Right Click -> Properties.

Make sure "File and Print Sharing for Microsoft Networks" is in the list of "This connection uses the following items:".

then you used the wrong slashes. They should be back slashes the ones above the enter key.
