I have a Pantech UM175 modem from Verizon. When I first got it, it worked like a charm. Way better than my old dialup. The more I downloaded the updates the worse it got. Now I connect and it goes right into dormancy. Most times I have to disconnect then connect again. Or I will be in the middle of something and it goes dormant. I realize it is supposed to go dormant but Verizon says it should come out as soon as I click on a link and it doesn't. They thought it was the modem so they sent another one but it does the same thing. I will have like 3 or 4 bars on it but it still goes flatline. Verizon tech support said it may be my antivirus (AVG Free 2011) but I can't get rid of that. Maybe the firewall blocking it, I just don't know. Can anyone help?

I'm having exactly the same problem with the same modem. Have you found a solution?

No unfortunately I have not gotten the problem resolved. I have tried turning off the firewall and it still does it. Even if I diable the antivirus. Who knows?
