Connect to the router's management interface and then go to the DHCP portion of it. There should be a box you can check, a radio button to click on or a pulldown menu that you can use to disable DHCP.

there is an internet connection at a pc point

Do you mean you presently have your internet going directly into a PC and you wish to split it out amongst your other PC's from that PC? If so, the smart and easy thing to do is to connect your internet to the LAN (Internet) port of the router and then plug all your PC's into the LAN ports.

It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.

If you plug the Internet into the router and then split the connection to multiple computers while DHCP is disabled on the router, only one computer will be online at a time. The others will be offline and fighting for the connection. That's why you setup DHCP so the router has the external IP given to you by your ISP, and then the router assigns each computer an internal network IP. Otherwise, the one computer online will have the external IP and the other computers won't have anything.

That's why you would use DHCP. Since I've potentially misunderstood what you said with, " there is an internet connection at a pc point," my suggested network design doesn't apply and so I removed my other replies.

" i want to use my linksys router as just a plain switch"

Do you understand why and how you would do this?

"there is an internet connection at a pc point and i want to split that internet connection to access more than one computer"

Statements like this usually mean distance issues and the OP is using ICS on the pc.

Really common question and that's why there are tons of how tos for turning a wifi router into a wifi switch.

You are also incorrect in saying "DHCP is disabled on the router, only one computer will be online at a time." The only way this statement is true is if the wan cable is put to a lan port. You didn't mention that. If set to dhcp on the clients with the dhcp server disabled no one would get internet.
