|Assuming you have highspeed internet, a typical setup is as follows:|
Internet >> Modem >> SOHO Router >> client connects/printers/cameras
If your modem is just a modem, then you'll need to put a SOHO Router between it and your LAN as per my example above.
Some modems are actually combination devices. Which is to say, a modem, SOHO Router and wireless Access Point combined.
If you have such a unit your setup would be as follows:
Internet >> Combo Unit >> client connections/printers/cameras
Most SOHO Routers only come with 4 LAN ports (for client connections) and if you require more connections than that, you'll have to buy a switch with enough ports and connect it to a LAN port on the router with a crossover cable
It matters not how straight the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate;
I am the captain of my soul.
