Unable to download anything from the internet

Hi, recently i have been having a problem downloading. I cannot download from any browser, for example i have recently been trying to download itunes but i cannot as when i click download the download starts and runs for a second before stalling on whatever percentage it got to in that fraction of a second.

No warning or error message appears it just stops and will not budge. Download speed is reported at 400kb/s or 800 or whatever which is false as i don't receive any more of the file.

I cannot download chrome or opera as i am subject to what usually happens but the same problem happens in internet explorer as well as mozilla firefox which leads me to believe that it is not some setting within the browser but a problem with something else.

I have uninstalled my network card driver and rebooted and this hasn't fixed the problem. Network card is also running the latest driver version.

I am using avast antivirus, router has a built in firewall.

have tried disabling antivirus but problem is still there.

Any solution would be great

Malwarebytes shows no unwanted software on machine so i'm at a dead end in trying to fix this problem

I would suggest to try a completely other thing to download, like e.g. Adobe Reader or something like that, which is normally working.
Try and report back.

Ok, so the question is, what has been changed since the last time it worked properly?
Or did it ever work properly?

has always worked, only thing that has changed recently is i removed some software from my computer. Tuneup Utilities 2010 and Advanced system care. Could that be the problem?

Ok so router and other things are the same and has not been changed?

The Adobe Acrobat Reader download has been running completely?
http://ardownload.adobe.com/pub/ado...

This link will download the 40 MB Acrobat Reader files without installing it. Just for testing.

So I would suggest to reset the router to the factory default settings and reconfigure it from scratch. Maybe that helps.
I would also suggest to check, whether there is a new firmware available for your router.
