Unable to connect wirelessly using WEP key

February 23, 2011 at 16:23:58
Specs: Windows XP
I am unable to connect to my network using my d-link wireless adapter. I am able to connect to my neighbor's network and other devices in my house can use my network with no problem. I am absolutely positive that I'm inputting the right password, but am unable to connect.

With WEP you need to go into advanced settings and make sure you are using the correct type of key. Usually SHARED and the correct key sequence number ( 1 to 4)

Unless those are correct as well as the key you cannot connect

the key has 26 numbers and letters. Does this define which setting it might be?

No. that indicates it is 128bit encryption but not whether it is shared nor the sequence number. Those settings can be found in the router admin interface. Log in there to see what type and sequence are employed.
