Gateway desktop / Gt5032
December 19, 2009 at 06:19:55
Specs: xp
I installed a new hard drive and used the recovery disc to install the os -xp. Some of the original stuff were not installed and now I cannot connect to the internet. Need help, I use DSL to connect to the internet. I went in the ACPI multiprocess PC to get details and saw c:\windows\systems32\ntk... should'nt there be other drives listed in this file? I am lost when it comes onto computers. HELP

When you bought this PC did you get the XP install disk and other disks with it? One should be for the motherboard chipset drivers and should contain the necessary drivers for the network card, onboard soundcard etc.

If you do not have these then you should be able to get them from the system maker's website if it is the gateway you list in your heading.

There would not be a modem in your desktop unless you use a dialup connection for internet. You need to look at Network Interface Card. Did you connect wired or wirelessly before you rebuilt the system?
