Did you install Windows 7 Drivers for the printers?

Are you using the Windows 2000 server as a print server or are you spooling on the computer in question?

I have windows 2000 as my server for the lab of 24 computers. I have one computer a windows 7 64 bit with the printer hooked to it with a usb cable while networking the other 23 computers . I've shared this printer and it will print when I first network it to the other 23 computers but it will eventually go offline. If I restart the first computer that its connected with the usb cable the other 23 computers will show the printer is back online temporily

Ok, try this.....

Physically connect the printer to a Windows XP/2000 machine and see what happens.
