TV Access to AVI files on network?

April 21, 2009 at 12:32:25
Specs: Windows XP
Just installed a multimedia server on our home network and would like to know if any options exist (hardware or otherwise) to link the home TV's to the lan to play the AVI files stored on the server.

I've tried every combination of search terms I could imagine and didn't find this application.

Was hoping to find a box that would connect to the rear inputs that would connect to the lan, then the watcher can choose the avi file from the directory and then watch it.

Am I dreaming of ShangriLa here?

I'm sure there are, my Tivo will let me play both audio and video from my server.

Google for "video over network to tv" and you will get tons of hits. Here are a couple to get you started
