Specs: Windows Vista
I am trying to set up wireless capability in my home without a desktop. I would like to be able to use connect my laptop to the internet from anywhere in the house. I have a Dell XPS M1330 with built-in wireless adaptor. I use cable broadband internet through a modem. I bought a Linksys WRT160N wireless router, which I was assured by the salesman would work without a computer plugged into it. Starting with my laptop fully wired, I went through the set up steps as indicated by the Linksys disk, ending with my laptop being connected to the router by an ethernet cord. When I disconnect the ethernet from my laptop and try to connect wirelessly, it does not work. My wireless network name does not even show up as an available option. HELP!!

Read the manual that came with your router to setup the wireless.

Your laptop also probably has a wireless switch, either on the front or one of the sides. If so, did you switch it on?
