Thomson speedtouch not forwarding ports

October 20, 2011 at 09:01:32
Specs: Windows 7
Ok, so i never had problems with this before until i reformatted my computer. I have used a program called simple port forwarding and i've also manually added the port seeing if theres a difference, but every time i check my port which is 25565 for a minecraft server it says either failed or not open etc.. I checked netstat -an and it showed it was listening to my ip address and port 25565. If you need anymore information to help me let me know

Check your Windows Firewall. Try turning it off and see if that works. You'd be surprised what Windows Firewall can screw up.

Also double check your router and make sure it allows that port.

thanks for your quick reply.
I just double checked my router and I removed all ports forwarded than re added the 25565 port. I also forwarded the port on my firewall and I tried it with firewall off and on. Any more suggestions?

Try shutting the windows firewall off.

Also, make sure your game is running in "host" or "server" mode so that it too is listening for connections on the correct port (TCP port number 25565)

If it still doesn't work, then it's likely you've misconfigured the port forward.

ya i've tried with my firewall off. I'm pretty sure its my router since i've tried random ports to test and none of them have worked even after following port forward guide to a T and trying with simple port forward program. I think I will reset the router to its beginning and hope that works.

You will also want to check that you have the most recent firmware installed. If you don't, download and install it and see if that, or the reset, doesn't fix the issue.

So I first tried firmware update but the software for thomson couldnt find my router "sigh", So i reset my router and there are four options to choose from, expert router, bridge, ip router and routed ppp. I tried ip router then routed ppp neither worked. (btw I am connecting to my router via ethernet, its not wireless) so then i tried bridge and it seems to be working fine connecting to the internet, but now I am in the exact same place I was before. Neither the thomson software can find my router nor can I get any dam port to be allowed through it. I also noticed I have 2 ip addresses but i believe thats normal? one is my broadband connection the other is my router ip.
