"from network router, plugged straight into my PC it does not locate any network"

I assume you mean a wired connection using a Cat5 cable or better cable? Do you have the Intel Gigabit LAN Controller enabled in the BIOS? Did you install the network drivers?

If it is plugged in using a Cat5 cable then wireless in not involved, except maybe for any other devices that might want to use the router that way.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks

I have difficulty in seeing that any current motherboard would not have wifi and cat-5/ethernet functionality available these days; subject to being correctly setup.

As riider suggests... have you installed the drivers (both cat-5/ethernet and wifi); are either wifi or cat-5 adapters showing in Device Manager under network adapters; and are they enabled?
