Switched from DSL to cable modem...

Specs: Windows XP
I just switched from DSL to cable modem. I switched over the modems, and now the cable modem and wireless router are connected. I am on a secured wireless network. My computer says that I have an excellent strength for the wireless network, but I cannot get the interent on my laptop. What do I do?? If I were to plug directly into the ethernet the internet works, so I know it's not my internet itself, it's the wireless router. Do I have to reconfigure the wireless router to be on a cable modem instead of DSL. I have a Netgear Range /wurekess /riyter

When you plug straight into the Ethernet, is this the Ethernet port of the wireless router or the cable modem?

If it works when plugged directly into the cable modem, then it sounds like your wireless router is on the wrong ip subnet.

So we can check the IP setup please open cmd prompt and type "ipconfig/all"

You will need to to this twice - once when connected to the wireless router and once again when plugged directly into the cable modem with the ethernet cable.
