Solved Stream from laptop to Sharp smart tv

Specs: Windows 7
Can not seem to hook the Sharp aquios smart tv to home group but have it connected to internet

What do I have to do?

It sounds like you bypassed the router or put the TV in the DMZ. What modem & or router do you have.? Who is your ISP?

Smart TVs do not connect to a home group. For them to be able to do that they would need home group software installed in their memory and that is clearly not the case.

To stream video from your laptop to the TV you need software in both the laptop and the TV to do this.

Instead of guessing about the features of your TV why don't you pull out the TV's manual?

You have the direct connect from a hdmi enabled laptop to the TV and you have the ability to use DLNA to view pictures/videos/music from your lan network.

Do didn't state what model you were running but here is a manual for the series
Check out page 36 for the DLNA part.
