Sharp laptop won't connect to the Internet

March 1, 2010 at 11:34:18
Specs: Windows XP
My grandmother used this laptop and it worked fine for her. She gives it to me as a gift and it won't work.
She used it at her place and it worked. I took it home, went to bed and the next day tried to get on. At first I thought maybe it's just the wireless card. so I put in an external wireless card and it still didn't work. So I thought, maybe i need to update the drives, I directly plugged it into the modem, still wouldn't connect. I don't know what to do.
It's a SHARP with a pentium 4 cpu.
runs windows XP.

Run ipconfig /all from a command prompt, not the run box like NOOBs do & post the output.

What modem &/or router do you have? Also, what type of service?

Reinstall the wireless NIC & make sure you can see it in the device manager.
