Shared drive question

Specs: Windows XP
There are several shared drive on the network. Some end with the share$ and some with just the share. What does the $ at the end do?

The dollar symbol means the shared drive is hidden, you could still acces it though if yu knew the extac tpath of it, you can add a $ to the end of end shared network drive to make it hidden.

It designates an Administrative share, which means it doesn't show up when viewing computers and their shares. One must know the path and have rights to access in order to connect.
