Here's my situation at work: I have an old Sun / Sparc workstation that I need to set up as a server via SERIAL cable (it's *really* old) and then access those shared folders from Windows. This is local ONLY so I need to map the shared drive as \\workstation_name\root with a login of workstation_name (no password) So I suppose this is messy
(1) how do I set up the Sun box to share \\workstation_name\root
(2) How do I set this up as a Windows shared drive?
SAMBA would be the only way AFAIK, on the software side. You might also search for a serial to ethernet adapter. How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.
Google "SLIP Solaris" and see if that helps. Here's one link to get you started: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/...
