i have a windows 2000 machine on a windows 2000 domain. we are in the process of upgrading to a new system and have a windows 2008 R2 server with a share directory on it. however when i try to access the 2008 server or the share i get a

\\servername is not accessible
logon failure: account currently disabled

error. any ideas on how to fix this? I need this person to be able to access the new shares for testing purposes. Thanks in advance!

user have an account on the new server? Message says account is disabled.

How are you doing this "migration" to the new server?

the user has a new AD account on the new server, so it doesnt match the account she is logged in on the 2000 machine.

we are not migrating anything ( the system has been the same since 98 when it was put it pretty much, so it needs alot of clean up easier to just do a new domain) we have 2 seperate servers, 1 that is active for the current AD, DNS and DHCP, the new one is a new domain with new AD and no DNS or DHCP set up yet with only about 20 new PCs on the domain. I was waiting until we are done with the old server before taking it down. the user is on a windows 2000 machine due to some printer issue that couldnt be resolved with XP when they upgraded.

no the machine is not on the new domain, it is on the old domain, i am only putting the new pcs on the new domain as they come in.. the XP machines on the old domain can connect to the server 2008 share just fine with a logon, but this 2000 machine doesnt even give me that option

"the XP machines on the old domain can connect to the server 2008 share just fine with a logon"

So you created a trust between the 2000 and the 2008?

Is this station joined to the 2000 server and does it run the logon script you say maps to the 2008 server?
