Specs: Windows 8, N/A
I am trying to setup a lan connection from my At&t Dsl router to my tp link router(TP-LINK Archer C7 AC1750 Dual Band Wireless AC Gigabit Router, 2.4GHz 450Mbps+5Ghz 1350Mbps, 2 USB Ports, IPv6, Guest Network). I need to change the lan ip of the Archer router to the ip address of the At&t Dsl router which would be when i do that i get an error saying the wan and lan can not be on the same subent. Then i release the wans ip and just give it the lan i get kicked of teh internet it does not work. I am just trying to get both routers to communicate together as in anyone on the archer can see anyone on the at&t one. and it will my WD my cloud that i have plugged into a switch along with those both be accessed from either router.

"when i do that i get an error saying the wan and lan can not be on the same subent."

All you have to do is change the lan subnet to say 192.168.0.x before you change the wan ip.

Though you should be setting this up without using the wan port on the second router. CurtR has a how to. Look it up on the top bar of this site and How To

I figured it out thank you all for your responses. At first it was requiring the wan be connected to access the settings to the router, but once i was in i was able to turn off DHCP, and unplug the WAN port and not get kicked out of this time, then plug in the LAN then change the LAN IP and now everything works great.
