how do i connect my belkin router to my modem if my modem only has 1 ethernet port

You run a network (patch) cable from the ethernet port on the modem to the WAN port on the router.

This is all covered in the belkin router manual. Because it is covered in the manual I have to ask you do you have the manual? It will walk you thru all of the other steps beyond just the cabling.

It didnt come with a manuel and i dont know what a patch cable is

If you look on the devices, they're likely to have a sticker or label on them that lists a model number. That would be the numbers we need to find the manuals for the devices.

Just FYI, you could search for them too using those model numbers. If I do it, I'd search the following string:

Belkin #### manual

Where #### = the model number

For the modem, I'd use the same format, only I'd change "belkin" to "motorola"

Give it a whirl and see if you can't find the manual yourself
