Resolve hostnames on home network

May 8, 2009 at 19:31:00
Specs: Ubuntu
I have two home machines running Ubuntu, and they acquire DHCP addresses from a Linksys router. How do I get them to resolve hostnames for changing IP addresses. I do not want to fix the IP addresses, because I have windows laptops (yuck) that I need to have on the network as well.

Why would the laptops prevent you from using static IP addresses besides the fact that the world is in love with DHCP?

Do you mean MS hostnames?

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
