recent ping/latency problem

August 29, 2011 at 01:14:34
Specs: Windows 7, intel i7/8gb ram
i play many online games on my laptop
and recently my ping started to jump up super high
before this problem my latency was at it is at 700-900+ms
bad huh? is also huge before my ping was 14ms(jitter=6ms)
now its at 500+ms
i might have a virus because i found out my brother was watching porn on my comp one day
i ran a virus/spyware scan and it was clean
if this continues i plan to reformat my computer but i do not have the window 7 disk
any idea how to fix the ping/latency problem??
if not how do i reformat my computer without using a cd??

thanks :D

oh i forgot to say i have one router in my house and its password protected
and at some random points of the day the ping/latency is fine.
i dont think it has anything to do with the amount of people using the network since it has never been a problem

Check and see if any other family members are doing any massive downloading or uploading. If they are, get them to stop and test.

If it's not someone on your LAN hogging bandwidth doing up/downloads, then call your ISP about the issue.

I am the captain of my soul.
