Solved Receiving limited access message from wireless network

September 10, 2013 at 12:39:16
Specs: Windows 7
I repeatedly receive a limited access message from my wireless network. My router is a Netgear WNDR4300 and I have checked for firmware updates but there are none. My laptop is an HP operating Windows 7. The other laptop on the network is a Mac and never has a problem. Also the two Iphones in the house have no problem. I can connect the HP with an ethernet and have no problem losing internet connection.

✔ Best Answer
Try changing the wireless channel in your router's configuration utility. The best channels are 1,6 & 11 (or 12 in countries which allow it).

Thanks for the suggestion. My channel was set at auto but I was running on channel 11. Channel 11 and 6 was the most popular channel for the surrounding wi-fi networks so I changed mine to 1. The internet already seems to be running faster so I will try this out and post my results.

Try to avoid using the same channel as another network with a strong signal (usually your nearest neighbour). The signal strengths are more important than channel popularity.

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
