RAID CONTROLLER (SAS 6/iR) Dell on Win7 PRO??

Folks,

Have a Dell Server with a SAS 6/iR RAID Controller...but the OS is Win7 PRO (not Windows Server). The Controller is made by LSI but (I think) specifically for Dell.

During OS installation, Windows 7 Pro seemed to recognize the controller automatically...I did not have to load any special drivers. It shows up in the Device Manager and is correctly identified.

The server has dual SATA drives which appear as 1 volume to Windows 7 and the system seems to be running fine.

What I am hoping to find is a Utility that allows me to check the status of the drives. For example, if one of the drives fails...or has some other issue.

I think there are utilities for WIndows Server 2008 that do this, but I don't know about WIndows 7 PRO.

Is anyone else in a similar situation and know of a solution?

Thanks

Every time you boot, the status should be shown just after the System BIOS is complete. This is at the point most SATA drives are recognized. Watch close - it goes by fast with a health status. Also, at this same point, go into the drive BIOS for status.
Get the manual and utility from Dell for Windows configuration. That is the only place you will find it.

Thanks...I will look for that info next time I reboot the machine.

Dell does have a downloadable utility for the controller, but it indicates it is only for Windows Server 2008 (none are listed for Win7 Pro).

Do you know if LSI would have one for Win7 Pro....or if the Server 2008 one would work in Win7 Pro?

Thanks
