Specs: Windows 7
Hi.

I'm trying to setup a PXE server , TFTP etc or whatever is needed in order to install an OS over the boot on network option

My main problem is a have a mini laptop with no CD/DVD rom drive. It wont detect my USB external harddrive case with a DVDrom drive in it. Or the USB sticks I have only the 2gb one.
I want to put win7 back on it. and I seam to be reinstall OS for friends etc alot so I though this would be the best option. Can anyone point me to some good software for this or other ideas.

Cheers

I have used tftp32 for a very long time. Simple as can be.

The only way that I know how to install Windows over the network is to use Remote Installation Services on Windows Server. Seems overkill for a single install. Do you even know that your laptop supports PXE booting?

Hi

I found something called CCboot its some software that seams to beable to do this but it wants you to make an image first .So you need a 3rd PC to do a fresh install of windows on and then upload its hard drive image I guess
http://www.ccboot.com/features.htm

I'm still looking into it.

Hmm. That's PXE booting rather than installation. And it requires an iSCSI target.

I suspect that the image would have to be made on similar hardware to the target computer. In that case you could hust move the hard disk to the other computer, install, and move it back again.
