Solved Proper updated firmware for more signal speed for old router

February 23, 2014 at 15:57:07
Specs: Windows 7
Good day...

I have the following router :

TP-LINK
54M Wireless Router
Model No. TL-WR340G/TL-WR340GD

LinkSys doesn't show or provide new firmware, I see there are many open source firmware options, but I can't determine which one could be applicable. The guys at DD-WRT responded that there was no DD-WRT option because of its low flash memory size.

The router is fully functional feeding 6 computers. I wondered if I could improve some features, like signal speed.

Thanks !

You can't make your older router "faster" by updating anything on it.

I'd leave well enough alone (ie: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it") and if you require a faster router, buy a new one and replace the old.
