Good Day,

I have a problem and need some assistance. Let me try my best to explain my problems. I have desktop at home running Windows 7 operating system and a laptop which runs Windows XP Home edition.I am permanently connected to the internet thru a modem and I get internet to them using a 10/100 (8)port Ethernet switch. I have files on both systems that I would like to browse at any given time without having to go on the desktop or laptop. How can I be able to do this without having to put the files on a CD or flash/thumb drive. Can I make the two systems see each other, where I can see or use the files on either computer.

You can't do that with a modem. You can only do that with a router that is also a dhcp server. Unless your modem is a router of course.
