Printer offline on Wireless Network

My wife's notebook shows her wireless network printer as "offline" (my computer works perfectly). It's a Canon Pixma 5520 and I've been unable to get it connected, Any ideas?

And, if I can't get it back online would a simple solution be to just buy another printer for her, or is this the notebooks problem and it would be the same issue with a new printer?

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this.

Check the printer's wireless settings, it may just need the wireless key re-entering. That's a regular issue with wireless printers - - they "lose" the wireless key.

Thanks for your response. I'm fuzzy on this. If I can access my printer on my desktop, would that invalidate this solution or not?

It's an HP Envy 4 Ultra Notebook.

Also, any thoughts on my question, "If I can access my printer on my desktop, would that invalidate this solution or not?"

Thanks.

If you have the proper key and she doesn't you get the results you see.

First thing to confirm is can you ping/access her notebook from your pc? If not you may have wireless isolation enabled in the router. Wifi isolation allows internet access but not lan/other computer access.

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.

Thanks for your reply, I really appreciate your help. Apparently my thinking on this is confused. I remember setting up the printer to be on the network but I'm not sure I remember ever having to do anything with the printer other than just access it like I would a wired one. What is it I need to do with the printer to insure that the connection takes place?

What is it I need to do to ping her notebook? Also, I may not have made it clear but she's able to access the Internet.

Thanks again for your help and patience.
