Can you connect/access the internet simultaneously with PPP and LAN? I'm having issues where we're currently connected to an FTP site through LAN but once PPP is connected, the FTP connection is disconnected. Also all internet access is going through the PPP. Is it possible or is there a way such that one can be FTP through LAN and also access the internet through PPP?

Use a router, to connect to the internet via PPP.
The PCs will get an internal ip address, e.g. 192.168.1.100.
So you can connect to internal FTP server.
Internet requests are forwarded to the router (e.g. ip address 192.168.1.1) and the reply gets back to your PC e.g. 192.168.1.100.
This works for several PCs connected to the router.

Is there any other way it can be done without using a router? The modem is connected to the PC via serial port.

Hmm, you should post an ipconfig /all output from both, disconnected and connected to ppp.

"Can you connect/access the internet simultaneously with PPP and LAN?"

No. You can't have two gateways.

If the FTP site is on the LAN and not beyond do a static ip assignment instead of dhcp and don't put a gateway entry.

Then both will work.
