Ping only works one-way on two-PC LAN

November 22, 2009 at 04:34:17
Specs: Windows XP
Our two-PCs running XP Workstation SP2 are networked with a simple twisted-pair connection. in a same switch They are able to communicate via TCP/IP only seems to work in one direction. One PC receives a successful ping from the other, but the reverse direction doesn't work (times out). I've tried every conceivable setting. seems to be a problem with one of the PCs).

Any ideas would be much appreciated,

Have you looked at the firewall on the machine that is not returning the ping request?

Ping is a two way connection. IT IS WORKING BOTH WAYS!

The reason the other way doesn't because ICMP incomming is blocked or disabled.
