Ping & ip config error

Acer 64mb module for acer acerpower 4100...

Specs: Windows XP
when i give ping & ip config in the command prompt it tells it is not an recoganised external or internal command. so what can i do to resolve the problem?
what is the problem i am facing?

Install the TCP/IP Protocol. If that doesn't work, make sure the drivers are installed for the network card.

Both of these commands are in the system32 folder. Assuming that other commands work there aren't many possibilities.

1. You are misspelling the commands.
2. The files have been moved or deleted.
3. The system path is set incorrectly. If this is the case you will not be able to run other commands in this folder either.

A problem with the TCP/IP protocol will not cause this error.

The TCP/IP protocol are installed and drivers are paths are set correctly,i verified sys 32 files. all the things are perfect but still got the ping and ip config errror.all other basic commends like cd..,exit are working but commands like arp and so are not working.
