open file on another pc from another pc

Specs: Windows 7, 8.00 GB
I currently have 2 computers on a homegroup network. I can see files & drives on both computers. What I want to do is, is to open a file from the other computer, from this one, but have it play on the other computer. Is there a way to do that? Any help would surely be appreciated. I'm going crazy. It has taken me days just to get to this point, but now I'm at a loss. Thank you, Susie

you have to have the program installed on pc2 that you have on pc1 to 'run' the same file [assuming music or video] on pc2

thank you soooo much, for replying.
I'ts actually a movie that I'm trying to open and play on the other computer.
It's KM player, and that program is installed on both computers.
when I open that file on this computer, that's originally on the other computer, it plays on this computer. if that makes sense. I'm trying to open it from this pc, and make it play on the other pc.
thank you so much, Susie

no application works that way if I understand you correctly.

file exists on pc1
you open and play the file on pc1
you open and pl;ay the file on pc2 with the file on pc1

you can not open the file when on pc1 and play it on pc2
