novell windows interface

Specs: Windows 7
Recently converted to windows domain and communicating to Novell Netware via CIFS. We seem to be either losing files or files are being over written with an earlier version of the file. Files are saved on back-up server fine. But when files opened from server there are gaps of data missing.........

how are files "saved" on the backup server?
what version of netware?
how are the files saved to the netware server?
does this show up during the day or a day or two later its noticed?
what have you done to troubleshoot this issue?
anything you think might be important you wish to add?

Guess you're six teeth shy now.

well I'm waiting on information from customer so that's why I'm lacking some details...however, software program is developed in Standard C/C++ with binary file I/O. There are no temporary files created by the software. A binary file is a file where bytes are read in “raw”, and delivered “raw”, without any kind of mapping. Files are opened via fopen function, read via fread, written to via fwrite, and closed via fclose. They are able to restore files from backup server indicating the file was saved at sometime, but over-written. I will post more details if/when I receive them...
Just looking for any ideas of what could be causing the problem, if anyone else has experienced a similar problem....
Troubleshooting....
Ran software on hard drive with no data loss.
Moved exe and associated files in new folder on server to see if any software conflicts

It would be the software doing this not either platform. Nothing in either platform to revert to older files. Perhaps how the "saved" files are saved is making the software think the files were not written and starts with older versions.
