Solved no wireless signal at all on laptop

February 11, 2013 at 19:56:07
Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium, Intel Core I3 M380 / 6GB Ram
I have an Acer laptop and for some reason it is no longer broadcasting a wireless signal. I tried the Fn F3 button to turn wireless signal on and off and back on again in case I accidentally turned it off. No luck. The light is not coming on showing wireless signal. Also when I open my network and sharing centre it shows I am not connected to the internet and there are no available networks showing. Usually I would pick up about 15-20 wireless networks at any given time.

It is almost like my internet signal is just turned off, yet I toggled the button to on.

Suggestions?

Thanks in advance for anyone taking the time to read this and help me out.

the problem was a driver was somehow disabled. The computer tech had it enabled again in about 10 seconds. He said it might have been disabled by AVG. Not sure how that happened since I didn't make any changes, but nonetheless I am happy to have my internet back. Thanks everyone for the time!

Is your acer one of those that has a hardware switch as well on the side facing you?

also you might ensure that it's not disabled because of power management settings.

Also you might check under networks, and ensure that it's not disabled through software.
