No wireless program

Specs: Windows XP
I have a laptop. When it was fixed the last time, apparently the wireless whatever was erased. I have it hooked up via cable, and linkseys,(for other computers in the house) but if I unhook it, there is no connection. What can I do?? Please help. Also, someone please recommend a virus program.

It's an acer. It says BL 50

Acer BL50 is your battery. Look for something like: Acer Aspire and such.

Go to device manager, see if the wireless network adaptor is
there.

If it is, then turn on the wireless switch on the laptop.

Then you will need to put in the SSID & security key
