Specs: windows XP, Core2duo
Hi guys,

i had this small internet cafe with 15 units pc. and browsing the web is not that stable. i have to unplug the internet modem everytime i can't connect to the internet.I think it has something to do with the settings that was in the router since it was just configured by a tech guy which i think not 100% sure of what he did, though it can connect to net for sometime but most of the time it is down.

Hope someone good in networking out there to extend their support.

What internet speed do you have going into your business and what kind of router?

This often happens when the internet speed is too fast and the router is too outdated to handle that kind of capacity.. (i.e. a Wireless G for a T1 internet connection)

More likely a flakey router is what the problem is.

You need to determine where the issue is. Next time internet is down look at the modem and router.

modem still show internet connection?
router wan port lit?
can you access the router when the internet is down?
when the internet is down if you connect a laptop to the modem do you get internet?

Answers are only as good as the information you provide.
How to properly post a question:
Sorry no tech support via PM's

i have 2mbps internet connection and D-Link DL-604 router.

modem still show internet connection?
yes

router wan port lit?
Yes, router wan port lit

can you access the router when the internet is down?
Yes, i can still access the router even if when there's no internet connection

when the internet is down if you connect a laptop to the modem do you get internet?
yes, if i connect my laptop and use the "obtain IP address" i can get a decent web browsing. But when i tried to set my laptop's IPv4 and put a vacant IP address in it i cant connect to the internet and have to unplug and plug the modem just to reset it then i'll be having a connection for couple of minutes then it'll be gone in a moment just like all other PC's in here which has their own IP adresses set in IPv4 always having a hard time connecting to the internet.
