mkyadav02 yes you can use your adsl modem router combo unit to provide wifi internet access.

Here is an example using a netgear router

You can only use an ADSL router if your internet access is through an ADSL telephone line.
For cable you need to buy a wireless router (router only, no modem) which connects to your existing cable modem.

You are not being very clear. Normally you subscribe to a service provider, and if it is adsl, it is through a phone line. From the phone line may go into just a dedicated single line modem that has 1 rj45 lan connection that goes to the back of lan card in the computer. OR they may give you an adsl modem/router combination unit with wireless access. In that case the modem/router should have 4 rj45 ports on the back to use, one of which you say goes to the computer now. If you in fact have the modem/router wifi combo unit then you must use it as PPPOE connection to allow to have internet access period. Then you can set up the wireless, give it a name, a security key code etc. If that is not what you have going on then please tell us.
