Need Wireless Card for Gateway PC 500L

March 14, 2011 at 10:25:36
Specs: Windows XP, 512MB
I need to add a wireless card internally to my Gateway 500L PC, which is on the XP operating system. The internet signal will be coming in on the floor above where the computer is located.
Are there any suggestions for the type of card to add?

What wireless modes are you using, 802.11g or 802.11n, and what type of wireless access point (WAP, WiFi router or WiFI gateway) is it?

I'm very partial to NETGEAR products, they've just worked well for me. In a desktop PC you'll want a PCI WiFi type adapter (as opposed to a USB WiFi adapter). PCI WiFi adapters are bigger and are just more robust. I have also used TrendNet with success. Other brands may work as well for you, D-Link, LinkSys Belkin etc.

Just another stupid saying...

My first reply may not have gone through... I do not have the info to answer the first questions yet - but I have purchased a Linksys PCI card. I just hope it works after being installed! Thank you for your reply with this helpful info.
