Need to add Public IP to my Gateway machine

April 4, 2011 at 18:50:39
Specs: Windows 7
I have a public IP (static). I have a Gateway machine which is connected through a modem. When I want to add that public IP to the Gateway Device through http:// it is taking me to the modem http:// site.

What should be the solution. Should I get a new router or any advice.

unclear if your "gateway device" is a router or a Gateway PC.
also unclear if your "modem" is really a modem router combo unit.

Do you know?

Thank you for trying to answer my question. Here I give you a little bit of explanation. I hvae a VOIP gateway device and I need to add my public IP to the VOIP gateway device through http://. But when I want to add my public IP to the Gateway Device through http:// it is taking me to the router (Philips SNA 6500) http:// site.

Should I get a different router?

why do you think the voip router needs the public ip? It shouldn't.

It just needs a route to the internet, which if set to dhcp, it will get from the router.

Your public ip is on your router where it belongs.
