my laptop is not connecting to WiFi

Specs: Windows 7
My laptop dell inspiron 5520 is not connecting to wifi. I tried to download the update from the link discussed above. after downloading i tried to install the updates but it is showing following error. "CAN NOT CONTINUE.THE APPLICATION IS IMPROPERLY FORMATTED. CONTACT THE APPLICATION VENDOR FOR ASSISTANCE". Kindly help.

What is the update you are trying to install?

Do see a wifi access point, one for which you know the access key (item incorrectly called the password?

PLEASE try the simplest things first:
Shut down the laptop and the Wifi router. Wait a couple of seconds at least and restart them, starting with the router followed closely by the laptop.

If you are referring to another post or web site, please include the link to that page so we can see the original problem and the suggestion.Then include ALL of the information on your problem, what happened, when it started, when it worked correctly last, and if this is your home or work network or someone else' network (assuming you have permission and the correct key).

You have to be a little bit crazy to keep you from going insane.
