Try resetting the router. There should be tiny hole at the back of the router. Open a paper-clip and push the end of it into that hole. Keep it pushed it for 10 seconds and it should reset it. The router password and all other settings should then return to the factory defaults.

Thanks everyone, believe it or not the problem turned out to be, not a hacking but they gave us a router/modem that had not been factory reconditioned. We tried everything including hooking it up to another computer with a hardwire. I finally got a clue by unhooking all the cables and wires and only having it hooked up to the power cord. Then we checked on an IPAD and it still showed someone else's name on it. So we finally got a hold of a cable tech who knew what we were talking about and back we went to the cable company for our 3rd box. I think they make that software on their website so that it purposely self-destructs. It never does the same thing twice and it never does what the instructions says it is supposed to do. I have the 3rd box up and running finally but I still had to put in the key number because it wouldn't let me put in a new password for the log in. Like I said they just kept telling me they wanted me to pay them $79.99 and guaranteed me they would have me up and online that night if they could reconfigure my computer, the whole time it was their website that needed the tweaking. Glad I looked around and saved my money!
