MY D drive is DVD-RAM

Specs: Windows XP
My D drive was DVD-ROM. Now it is DVD-RAM. I can right click on the properties and hardware it is listed as DVD-ROM. Have problem with it ejecting particular with document files. I can remove the disk but the files are still listed when I click on the D drive. How can I fix this problem?

Try this registry edit:

Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\atapi
\Parameters\LegacyDetection

Change the value from 1 to 0.

Restart Windows.

It's advisable to have a full system backup at your disposal when editing the Registry, just in case you mess it up in a way which prevents Windows from starting.
