My cable internet keeps disconnecting

Specs: Windows XP
I had a tech from my cable provider come out and he told me my router was causing the modem to crash. I bought a new router. Still issues with disconnection. Bought a new modem. Still have to unplug/plug back in the router and modem to get internet to work. I've gone in and checked my IP address, done everything I can think of. Of course, my cable provider insists it's not them, but I don't know what else it could be. My tower is a few years old and has XP as the OS.

Unless there was a electrical/mechanical issue with the router its a BS answer that the router causes the modem to crash.

Connect your pc to the modem. Are the results different? Make sure you are up on your AV/Malware updates and you have the windows firewall enabled.

If the result are the same insist they replace the modem
