Loss of Wireless Connection

Hi guys! I seem to be having a recurring problem with my DLink router. I have two computers connected to it. One is directly connected to it and the other is running it wireless. Several times a day the wireless connection is lost and I have to unplug the modem and router to get the signal back. The computer that is directly connected to the router doesn't lose the connection just the wireless one. I'm at a loss.

I would first check that you have the most up-to-date firmware on the router. If you don't, update it and see if that doesn't fix the issue. If it doesn't, or you already have the latest reset it to factory defaults and reconfigure it.

If the problem persists, your router may be going bad and be in need of replacing.

just an added note, you do not need to reboot the modem if its just the wireless having issues.

Next time you lose the wireless connection check the wireless icon to make sure its still connected to your network.

case in point, my wife was complaining about our home wireless network being slow. I checked everything and it was fine. Lo and behold when I checked her laptop she was connected to a open neighbors wireless network. I changes a few settings on her laptops nic and all is well.
